The good: The room was adequate. The bed was comfortable and the rooms reasonably soundproof. There are a few venues around this area that seek to deafen their customers from Thursday to Sunday so sound-proofing was important. Room amenities were mostly good. Everything was clean and neat. Location was ideal. Staff were friendly and the attached restaurant was great. Ideal for one night, but you might want to research this place to see if it suits your needs if your stay is longer. The reasons I'll try to avoid this place next time: Parking: You can pay $25 for valet parking or $10 PER ENTRY and park yourself. Cheaper to find street parking close by, just be aware of the time limits on these spots during the day. The room fridge is tiny. You'll have to move the hotel snacks and drinks out if you want to put your own in. AC controls slow and confusing. The AC was slow to react to requested temperature setting. The dead-band of the thermostat was a bit wide. The room got a bit chilly before the heating kicked in when the controller was set at 21 degrees. It also seemed to overshoot the set temp, probably to do with the location of the outlet vent and return air vent. The room had a king size bed, two sets of towels, two sets of glassware and cups, but only one chair at a small table. Where did they think the second person would sit? The carpet throughout the place is beginning to show its age. No microwave, crockery or cutlery. You get two wine glasses, two tumblers and two mugs.

Our stay with Novotel in Devonport was a great experience. It is close to the movie cinema, restaurants, pubs and other stores, so easy to walk to once the car is parked! Our room was very clean and comfortable and staff so friendly and wanting to make your stay as smooth as possible.
